Air conditioner modes - detailed instructions for choosing options and setting

Modern technology pleases its owners with a large number of different functions, but it is not always easy to understand them. So, for example, the air conditioning modes are most often indicated in English, and it will be difficult for a person who does not know the language to understand right away. To facilitate this task, below you will find detailed tips and a full description of all the modes for setting climate technology.

The main modes of the air conditioner

Leading manufacturers with each new released model are trying to implement as many features as possible into the device. But there are a number of basic modes that are present both in the most expensive and in the cheapest and simplest air conditioners.

Cooling

When it comes to air conditioners, the cooling of rooms immediately comes to everyone's mind. This is the main function of such a technique. On the remote control, this mode is usually indicated by a snowflake or they write the word “cool”, which translates into Russian as “cooling."

The cooling process occurs by converting a special substance (refrigerant) from a liquid to a gaseous state. During this transformation, the refrigerant takes heat from the apartment and gives off cold air.

Important! Some people when buying do not take into account the power of the air conditioner and focus on a low price. The required power can be calculated based on the formula: 1 kW = 10 sq.m. premises. Only in this case the unit will be able to fully perform its functions.

Typically, to cool the room, set the temperature range within 15-18 degrees. If this is not enough, then:

  • Turn on the “Fan” modeat which cold air is supplied more intensively. On the button, it is indicated by the propeller icon.
  • Increase airflow on many models, you can use the “Speed” button.

Important! Do not use the cooling function in the cold season, for example, in winter, otherwise the equipment may fail.

Heating

The heating function is indicated on the remote control by the word “Heat” (in the translation “heat”) or by the picture of the sun.

Few people consider air conditioning as a means of heating the room, but in fact in the off-season, when the heating has not yet been turned on, and the temperature outside the window is above zero, it is able to perfectly heat the room.

During operation of the air conditioner in the “Heating” mode, the energy consumed is three times less than the heat given off, which is much more profitable than the use of conventional heaters.

Important! When frosting on the street, it is not recommended to use climate control equipment in the “heating” mode, since freon (the liquid necessary for the functioning of the split system) changes its properties. This can cause serious damage. In addition, condensation may freeze in the drain pipe.

There are specialized models that are able to work at low temperatures and supply hot air without harming themselves. But such air conditioners are much more expensive than ordinary ones.

Drainage

The “Dry” mode on the remote control is marked with a crossed drop. It is especially useful in rooms with high humidity. Function run time is only 10 minutes. During this time, excess moisture is removed from the room, and the microclimate comfortable for human life is restored. This option is useful on hot days when it is difficult to breathe due to high humidity.

It is important that during operation of the air conditioner in the drainage mode the room does not have large open sources of moisture (for example, a filled bath), otherwise there will be no result.

Ventilation

The ventilation mode (“Fan”) indicated by the icon of the rotating blades does not affect the temperature in the room, it only carries out the movement of air flows. This function is useful, for example, in the winter season, when heat from batteries and heaters accumulates under the ceiling and does not move without assistance.

In this mode, the air conditioner does not receive cold or warm air, the compressor does not turn on, and the internal engine is used.

Swing Mode

The Swing mode is similar to the Ventilation mode, but it also has significant differences. When the air conditioner is operating in this mode, the warm air from the room is uniformly mixed with the cold air that comes from the air conditioner. This happens due to the movement of the air conditioner flaps up and down.

Using the optional “Air Flow Direction” function, you can lock the flaps in the desired position.

“I Feel” Mode

The innovative “I Feel” technology often differs in different models of air conditioners, but in general it means that the equipment can independently adjust the temperature. The air conditioner is based on temperature data received from a sensor built into the remote control.

Important! Depending on the ambient temperature, the split system raises or lowers the temperature of the supplied air. For each model, the temperature boundaries are different.

Additional modes

In addition to the main functions that almost every air conditioner is equipped with, there are many additional options, including:

  • Comfortable sleep - after turning on, the engine reduces power, due to which the split system works almost silently. Temperature fluctuations practically do not occur.
  • Timer and delayed start - allow you to start or finish work at a time strictly set by the user. Thus, you can warm up or cool the room at the time the household comes home.
  • Filtration - allows you to clean the incoming air from dirt and dust. There are models that can clean the air of smoke and prevent the penetration of odors into the apartment.
  • Ionization - in this mode, the air conditioner, together with the air, delivers negatively charged particles of silver into the room, thereby increasing the immunity of households and making many diseases easier to tolerate.
  • Self diagnosis - A rather useful function, during which the air conditioner can itself detect a malfunction in the system and notify the user about it.
  • Defrost - allows defrosting the external air conditioning unit (which is located outside the window) in the winter season.

Many functions are really very useful and you should pay attention to them when buying.

Important! If the system is supposed to be installed in the nursery or bedroom, then you can’t do without the Comfort Sleep mode. If the plans include the use of a split system in winter, then just in time there will be the presence of the “Defrost” function. The option “Self-diagnosis” will be useful in any case, its presence is a big plus.

How to choose the desired function?

Initially, it can be difficult to deal with the air conditioning control system, although everything is extremely simple:

  • To select the desired mode, you must press the corresponding button on the control panel (for example, if you need to cool the room, then press the “Cool” button or the button with the picture of a snowflake).
  • The temperature is changed using the “+” and “-” buttons, the data is displayed on the remote control display and on the climate control panel.
  • If there are no necessary buttons with symbols on the remote control, then you can adjust the mode using the “Mode” button. The name of the selected function will be displayed on the screen.

Important! The effect of the air conditioner is not immediately felt, but only after a while. Do not turn the device on and off if the desired effect is not achieved immediately.

Modern split systems are a real salvation for modern people. They can cool, heat, clean, and even ionize the room, which is very important in large cities, when the air is polluted by exhaust gases from cars and industrial enterprises.

Visually, all the processes of setting up and selecting the necessary options on the air conditioning control panel are shown in the video below.
