Causes and effects of pollution

The contaminants appearing in your washing device are varied: mold appears from constant dampness, the filter becomes clogged with foreign substances. But the main enemy of this device is scale.

Few will argue that the water entering our house through the pipes of a centralized network is not ideal. Its stiffness and contamination greatly affect the inside of the washing machine and its general condition.

The resulting scum is very dangerous for your device, because over time, due to excessive plaque, your equipment has to work harder and harder and in a moment it just breaks. Repair of such equipment often flies a considerable penny to its owners. To avoid such situations, you need to clean and care for it in time. How to choose the right descaler for washing machines and how to clean the device itself so as not to damage it, we will consider further.

How to clean the washing machine?

Citric acid for a washing machineIn stores, there are many tools for the care of household appliances - from the most publicized (such as Calgon) to simple cleaners. But one way or another, they all have in themselves a certain particle of acid. It is needed in order to corrode and descale from the heater.

These tools are good and justify themselves, but they also have the so-called "pitfalls". If you do not calculate the dose of a particular household chemistry, then you can not only remove the scum but also damage the elements of your equipment, which will not end in anything good. And then the question arises: "How to clean the washing machine from scale, so as not to damage it?" The answer is one simple, and most importantly - inexpensive improvised means: citric acid.

How to clean the washing machine with citric acid?

Compared with the products that are sold in stores, keeping proportions for citric acid still remains important, but the price and quality are undeniably more attractive. Cleaning the washing machine with citric acid is very simple, just follow certain recommendations and stock up with the required amount of powder itself.

If you haven’t cleaned for a long time, get to work as quickly as possible, using the following algorithm, so that citric acid for the washing machine comes in time:

  1. Make sure your drum is empty. In another case, our home cleaner will corrode not only plaque, but also things along with it.
  2. Take 100-200 grams of citric acid.
  3. Pour the product into the powder compartment.
  4. Turn on the device for a long wash and at a maximum temperature of 90-95 degrees.
  5. Do not go far, you need to monitor the procedure. If you notice a noise or knock, pause the process, look at the drain hole below - perhaps large pieces of plaque have got there. Remove them immediately and start the equipment again.
  6. After cleaning, be sure to follow the previous steps correctly and that the rubber parts of the device are not damaged by acid.
  7. The procedure was successful if, during cleaning, you saw how scum pieces are removed along with water from the drain.
  8. The recommended repeat period for this procedure is once a year.

Important! Lemon juice for cleaning purposes will not work. It is less concentrated and simply does not affect pollutants.

A very big problem is the fungus that can form inside your household appliances, especially if the family has allergies. And here, citric acid, a universal remedy for cleaning a washing machine, will also help you. Use it in this case in the same way, plus, you can separately wipe the affected areas with a concentrated solution until the wash cycle and leave for a while.

Cleaning the washing machine with vinegar

Citric acid is not the only remedy for home appliances. Descaling in the washing machine will also help you with ordinary table vinegar. Acetic acid works no worse than citric acid and makes your device sparkle with novelty and purity.

For this:

  1. Pour 2 cups of vinegar into the powder compartment.
  2. In the longest washing mode and at maximum temperature, we scroll through our product without laundry.
  3. After 5 minutes, interrupt the procedure for an hour. This is done so that the resulting solution penetrates better into the corners of the tank and cleans even the most unattainable dirt.
  4. After an hour of waiting, continue washing to the end.
  5. After - on the minimum washing program, rinse the drum from the remnants of the solution.
  6. Wipe the inside of the doors with a dampened cloth in vinegar. This is especially true for seals.

Important! Both of these products are also good for cleaning the washing machine from smell.

Filter cleaning

Citric acid for a washing machineCleaning the washing machine from scale is still half the battle, because the blockages in the filter can also lead to damage to the device. There are two such filters in the car:

The first one is a coarse cleaning, located in a hose through which water from the pipeline enters the device.

The second (drain) is located in front of the tank. It traps dirt particles so that they do not enter the tank.

To clean the first filter in the washing machine, follow the instructions below:

  1. Turn off water before cleaning.
  2. Unscrew the inlet hose on the device itself.
  3. At the outlet of the hose you will find a small mesh. Gently with a cotton swab to prevent damage, clean it.

Important! If the filter is very dirty, then reverse the hose (if possible) and rinse the mesh with water.

The second filter is cleaned in a similar way. It is located at the bottom of the body under the cover in the hole of the pipe intended for forced discharge.
