How to wash the cooker hood filter from grease?

Metal filters are the first barrier to steam, odors and fine droplets of fat, so the cells begin to clog up with fat very quickly. After this, the hood starts to work poorly, up to a complete inability to suck in air. To restore its full functioning, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

If the drops of fat are light in color, this means that a protective film has not yet formed on them and it will be relatively easy to clean them.

To do this, do this:

  1. Soak the filter in a container of hot water.
  2. Clean with grease cleaner.
  3. Leave to stand for 30-40 minutes.
  4. Rub the filter with a metal or very hard plastic brush.
  5. Wash away the remaining fat with warm, washable water.
  6. Rinse well with cool water.

Method 2

In the case when these actions did not bring the desired result, proceed to more decisive methods to combat fat deposits:

  1. Take a pot of water in which the filter is placed, at least half (the second half can be processed after the first).
  2. Pour a half of finely grated or chopped laundry soap and 2 tablespoons of baking soda into it.
  3. Insert the filter.
  4. Boil the mixture with the hood for 5-10 minutes.
  5. Pull the filter out of the pan.
  6. Rinse with running water.

Important! If after the procedure you notice the presence of fat on the filter, leave it in a hot mixture for 2-3 hours or repeat the procedure.Typically, this technique is suitable for almost all filters and dissolves grease well both outside and inside the filter.

Method 3

If the previous method of cleaning the filter did not help, or partially removed the grease, and you are still wondering how to clean the exhaust grill from grease, the next option is for you. Follow this pattern:

  1. Take liquid or granular pipe cleanser.
  2. Read the instructions carefully.
  3. Take a stainless container or use a sink.
  4. Put protective gloves on your hands.
  5. Pour / fill the product onto the filter.
  6. Gently pour water on top.
  7. Leave on for 5-7 minutes.
  8. Rinse with plenty of running water.

Important! A powerful chemical reaction of water and alkali will remove even the oldest grease in the filter cells, but remember that this tool can only be used as a last resort, with the most advanced options. Since the active components of the anti-clogging agent corrode the aluminum filter grill, they can irreparably damage it.
